Cafeteria Windows Mural

Upon entering the cafeteria at Bradley Children's Hospital, you will see a built-in cabinet in the center of the room, with two rectangular areas on either side. Commissioned to paint a mural in these areas, we suggested and designed a scenic mural with two windows. Our goal was to create a work of art that would be both beautiful and calming for the children and staff.,

Painted in 2011, the mural features two architectural half-round windows with decorative grilles, and each features an inviting ocean view of Narragansett, Rhode Island.  Beyond the sea roses at the base of the windows, warm sand covers the beach as the sun casts small purple shadows in forgotten footsteps. Sea grass rises dark blue and green and turns yellow when kissed by the sun. A large sand dune meanders across the center, and its erosion on the right casts beautiful shadows which contrast nicely with the sand. In the distance small fishing and sailboats dot the Bay, in relief of the coastline which winds its way to the horizon.

Note: The first image is a 'Before' picture of the cafeteria. The second and third images show the work in progress. The fourth picture is a close-up of the finished sand dune in the window on the right. And finally, the last image shows the finished mural.
