Portrait Procedure

My ideal procedure for creating a portrait is from a sitting, but with today's busy schedule, most folks don't have the time to commit to the amount of hours necessary for a proper portrait. So the next best thing is to work from a combination of a sitting and photo's.

A meeting and photo session will be scheduled at your residence or a location of your choice. The time spent together should create a more natural and relaxed feeling and mood, which will enhance the final portrait. The session may take several hours, where I will get a feel for you and/or the subject(s). I will create a series of sketches and take a number of photographs to use as reference later.

Though, I prefer to work from my own photos, there are times where a client has a favorite photo, or a combination of photos that they would like me to use as a reference. There are also many cases where I've been hired to honor a loved one with a Posthumous Portrait, such as the example at right.
