Hospital Mural

Created roughly 10 years ago and titled 'Serengeti', this mural is approximately 12' x 5' and located in the Pediatric waiting area of the South Shore Medical Center in Norwell, Massachusetts.

Painted to look like a large picture window, the plains of the Serengeti come alive with animals. Artificial plants were added along the bottom to enhance the illusion, and also to protect the mural from the tiny hands of budding artists....

The 'Serengeti' mural was created in The Art of Life studio on heavyweight canvas and then installed on site by professioanl paper hangers. (Picture below) When a mural is painted on canvas and then attached to the wall like wallpaper, this is a technique known as marouflaging. Maouflaging Murals is a great option for very busy Health Care environments. With installation taking only an hour or two, a remarkably detailed mural can appear in the blink of an eye - and will be virtually indistinguishable from a mural painted right on the wall.
