"History of the Blues" is just that - a history of the blues. The mural in the stairwell features two actual bluesmen in the foreground, and behind them - literally as well as historically - is a tobacco sharecropper, followed by a family picking cotton in the thick summer heat.

So why did we paint a blues mural in stairwell?

Picture this: In a very nice home in a very nice neighborhood there is a stairwell, and this stairwell leads to a large room that has been completely converted into a 'juke joint' - a type of bar in the middle of nowhere... where the music is raw and powerful and it's as loud in your soul as it is in your ears. Stepping into this room is like stepping back in time: The ceiling is made of rough hewn tin, the floor is splintery planks, the door is authentic, there is a long bar to one side and juke boxes are everywhere. This homeowner clearly has a passion for the blues, and he wanted his stairwell to be as special and unique as the room that it leads to.
